Far to the north, beyond the borders of Evendim, lie the icy barrens known as Forochel. While one might think that this frozen land would be devoid of life, nothing could be further from the truth. Many animals dwell here, as well as Men. The Lossoth of Forochel make the cold plains their home, living off fish and wild elk.
Arvedui, the last king of Arthedain, escaped from Fornost and came to Forochel long ago, but he never returned. The ship sent by Círdan the Shipwright to retrieve him foundered in the Ice-bay of Forochel, and all aboard were lost . . . along with two of the mighty palantíri.
Forochel is a land only mentioned briefly in J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings, allowing the designers of The Lord of the Rings OnlineTM: Shadows of AngmarTM much flexibility when creating the region. Many are the dangers here, and players will find the design of this place and its people faithful to the few surviving tales of Middle-earth's frozen north.
