New Lotro Content gating |
UPDATE:
Upon further review the only area you will need to own the quest pack for is Enedwaith. As long as you have purchased that quest pack (or are a VIP) all of the instances and the raid listed above are unlocked for you.
So instead of needing to purchase 5 quest packs, you need only purchase 1.
[Source]
The new instances and raid are part of their respective quest packs. If you already own them, or are a subscriber, they are free additional content in those areas.
The areas/instances are as follows:
- Enedwaith – Ost Dunhoth
- Forochel – Glacier Fortress
- Trollshaws – Lost Temple
- Evendim (Oatbarton) – Northcotton Farm
- North Downs – Stoneheight
In addition, there is a special instance quest arc "In Their Absence" that is part of the Enedwaith region quest pack.
Obviously, Volume III: Book 3: Echoes of the Dead is free content in line with our policy to keep the Epic Story free for all players.

Forochel: Glacier Fortress |
The Entrance: Go to Suri Kyla. Go all the way west of town. There will be a boat along the shore just west of it (like in Enedwaith). It's actually nowhere near that relic from the Calm Before the Storm.
Some bugs to watch out for: The entrance will let you in, but it won't let you back out. It's kind of like walking into a glass door.
So if you go in to explore and defeat the big ol' bear, leave using your portrait.
If you need to reset the bear by running out of the gate, the bear will chase you and get stuck and bugged out in the gate. He will start screaming at you to stop running around and stop wriggling, over and over in rapid succession.
The second floor is bugged (after the first boss). It will be fixed in next update. There are three bosses in total. The entrance is in Forochel. - amlug

RIFT – MMORPGs of 2011, Part 1 |
The year behind us was probably one of the worst years for the MMORPG genre. We saw several rushed out releases that brought shame to the IPs that powered them. We saw the quickest closing down of a high budget MMO in history. The only thing that seem to have made money are games for teenagers and browser games.
For the first time in our 4 year history we will be doing a network wide Editorial on all our MMORPG Life sites and the topic will be huge MMO games coming out this year and what we expect of them. The honor to be presented first is the soon to be released Rift by Trion Worlds.
Rift: Planes of Telara is a fantasy MMORPG made and published by the industry newcomer Trion Worlds. The game is set in a unique world of Telara that represents an intersection of several powerful planes of reality. As such it has drawn the attention of the mighty elemental gods of the Blood Storm led by Regulos, god of Death. As Death gods tend to do he attacked Telara and it is up to its denizens to try and defend it from the oncoming invasion.
We had the opportunity to play in the invitational closed beta events Trion Worlds has been holding in the past months and here are my impressions of what I've seen in my short time in Telara.
If you haven't managed to get into one of these events and are curious to see what the game is all about you can also pre-order the game and that will grant you access to all the remaining beta events as well as early access.

LOTRO Store Price Reductions and Name Changes |
Today, you have probably noticed that many items in the LOTRO Store have new prices and names:
(1) Based on player feedback we have reduced the prices of many items- some prices have been reduced as much as 90%!
(2) The names of some items have been changed to better clarify what is being offered
(3) In an effort to reduce clutter in a number of categories, the quantity of stack sizes has been reduced. Many items are now sold only in stacks of 25, but at the cost of a stack of 5!
Some of the changes are:
- Shared Storage and Wardrobe: prices lowered by 10-30%
- Skirmishes: prices lowered by 20%
- Regional Mounts: prices lowered by 20%
- Currency Cap: prices lowered by 20%
- Emotes: prices lowered by 34-65%
