If you let your account lapse, you won't lose your Lotro house. Unfortunately, there are neighborhoods full of people who currently do not play, with locked out houses. On the one hand its nice for military personnel or just about every "average" player who jumps from game to game to game. You can rest a bit knowing your precious house won't be taken over by someone else. But you'll have to pay a pretty fee to unlock it when you return.

If you set your permissions to let others pay for you it will continue to not be locked out if you are not playing and someone else pays for you.
Best practice: pay up the 6 weeks before you go inactive, ask someone to keep an eye on it for you also. The lockout fee is only 1 extra week upkeep on top of accrued weekly upkeeps.

Players are once again able to track support tickets. You may also now track tickets from any character on the same server as the reporting character.

Example: If you log over to an alt on the same server to craft, you can still check the status of a ticket submitted by your main!

There is an issue with the final boss in the Halls of Crafting which causes the gate to close immediately after any one player enters. This will cause the encounter to become active prior to the entire group entering the boss’s chamber. Here are some work-arounds players can use which may reset the fight and preserve hard mode:

1. Have one person walk up to - but not through - the doorway into the boss’s chamber. Once the fight activates, have that person run back through the entrance to the second boss’s chamber. Be swift, as you do not have much time to perform this action from the time the fight starts.
2. Have any character with a “Feign Death” or “Hide in plain Sight” skill walk up to / through the doorway into the boss’s chamber. Once the fight activates, have the player use one of those skills, causing the boss to reset.

When attempting either of these two options we would suggest having only one person from the party walk up to the gate to activate the fight. Please be aware in-game support is unable to reset these battles, hard mode, or replace any items lost due to this issue.

The new shiny barter token - the Medallions, are used for bartering for your radiance pieces and some extra Legendary Item augmentations!  Medallions will be replacing most of the tokens that you’ve seen since Moria.  There will be unique Medallions for each cluster of instances that we release. 

There will be new npcs at the Twenty-first Hall and Caras Galadhon near the class trainers that will exchange those old crusty tokens for new shiny medallions!  These Barter Exchange Traders will also hold all the Legendary Item goodies.

Currently there will be two for the live content you guys are playing: the Medallion of Moria and the Medallion of Lothlorien.  The Medallions will drop off of every boss monster in level 58+ instances.  This means that killing boss one in Forges of Khazad-Dum will drop Medallions for everyone in the party.  (Note: Make sure you all loot the chest!). Players can use Medallions to trade for same things they were trading for — namely the Challenge sets, the other dungeon sets, and relics and Legendary Item XP.

Currently the Medallions of Moria will drop in: Grand Stairs, Forges, Sixteenth Hall, Fil Ghashan, Skumfil, and Dark Delvings.  The Medallions of Lothlorien will drop in Waterworks, Halls of Crafting, and Hall of Mirrors. Future instances will drop a new Medallion.

Doing the Challenges will gain you more Medallions!  In addition to this, we are going to be adding in some items to Challenges at a very low percentage drop.  This means you’ll have a chance of getting something special. Finally, we are fixing it so there are new Challenge quests that work while you are inside the instances only and are on a daily retry timer.

The most recent and interesting news from the Lord of the Rings Online test server Bullroarer are new crafting jewelry and armour. New craftables are from Lothlorien Vineyards. Our first attention was directed towards new Lothlorien jewelry, and now it's time to take a sneak peak at new light, medium and heavy armour. The credit goes to jayspeed for all screenshots.

The LOTRO Game Servers will be brought down on Thursday, August 13 from 8:00 AM - 10:00 AM Eastern (-4 GMT) for a hotfix. This is a server side only change. There is no client update required.

The Lord of The Rings Online: Mines of Moria Volume II, Book 8, Patch 1 notes state that a small set of bounty quests was added in Esteldin. The quest giver is about 15 feet from the stable guy but the quests are all level 60. So if you aren't high enough you won't see rings for them.
